About us

header How the brain becomes functional during development?
The brain consists of an enormous number of a wide variety of neurons. These neurons form a complex neural circuit and process sensory information such as visual, olfactory, and auditory stimuli. Although neural circuit formation is essential for complex brain functions, we do not know how the neural circuit is formed successfully during brain development. To understand mechanisms that regulate neural circuit formation, it is necessary to know when, where, and how specific types of neurons are born as well as how neurons migrate to connect to their partners. In our laboratory, we use the Drosophila fruit fly as a model system to answer these questions.
In our lab, we use fruit fly Drosophila as a model system to answer the question.
